Performances
One Night Only has moved form UKS to Kunstnernes Hus and has the pleasure to announce the first show. The start of a new era! We are proud to announce two of the best norwegian performance artists to start One Night Only at Kunstnernes Hus.
Sigmund Skard
Sigmund (b. 1952, Sveio, lives and works in Valevåg) graduated from the National Academy of Fine Art (KHIO), Oslo, in 2009. He has exhibited in venues such as Sørlandsutstillingen, Skien; Art Fair, Supermarket 2011, Stockholm; Tram festival. Portugal; Hotch-poch. London; No Place, Oslo; Høstustillingen, Oslo; Garish Barish, Cubical Gallery, Manilla.
Sigmund is working in the borderland of sculpture and performance in a minimalistic and hushed manner. He retrieves new forms and qualitys from known everyday material. Skards´ use of material remindes of the Fluxus movement. Spartan but conceptual and powerful are words to describe his performances.
In these days Sigmund is working with performances of how to get out of a situation. After an injury in his main hand (right), he is exploring to move bodyfunctions to the other side, using the opposite hand than usual. In this process he learnd that the «wrong» hand is a fast learner and that many problems can be solved with one hand only. The performance tonight illustrates Sigmunds way to solve problems with the «wrong» hand.
