We are proud to invite you to our show this monday, Solaris by Bjørn Bjarre. Bjarre was born in Oslo,1966. He studied at The National Academy of Art in Oslo (1989-1994), and has since shown extensively in Norway and abroad. Bjørn is, without doubt, one of the most active artists in Oslo.
The show consists of a new sculpture in progress; a laboratory for experimental extraterrestrial atmospheric research, which is part of a larger body of work related to Stanislaw Lems novel Solaris, about the attempted communications with life on a far-distant planet. On display will also be a series of small drawings envisioning the planets surface. The works in the Solaris series are investigations into the relations between a literary text, mental images, different pop-cultural visualizations of the unknown and invisible phenomena in astronomy and quantum physics.
«To paint in earth´s dull colors the forms clothed in the living light of other worlds is a hard and thankless task; all the more gratitude is due to those who have attempted it. They needed colored fire, and had only ground earths.» - Annie Besant
The sculpture is also part of the Skulpturarena Øst project Box Stories.
